What is a recommended balanced diet to control weight during pregnancy?

It is important to have a balanced diet during pregnancy.
  1. You must consume adequate amounts of carbohydrates, proteins, fats, vitamins and minerals.

What is the expected weight gain during pregnancy?

For women of normal weight before pregnancy, the weight gain during pregnancy should be about 11-16 kg. Underweight women would need to gain about 13-18 kg.

Why does weight gain occur during pregnancy?

Remember that all weight gain in pregnancy is not directly due to the developing baby (foetus). In fact, a fair amount of the weight gain may be due to fatty deposits.

Understanding Weight Gain & Diet during pregnancy

During pregnancy, you will need additional nutrients to keep you and your baby healthy. However this does not mean that you must eat twice as much.
